Q: How is CAB funded?
The Bureau is
a charitable organization mainly funded by East Lothian Council.
This enables Haddington CAB to have one full time member of staff (Manager).
Project funding has been secured to employ additional paid staff for specialist services e.g. Money Advice.
Q: What is CAB all about? The Bureau is an independent organisation
committed to providing advice on a wide range of subjects to
people, irrespective of their status.
Q: What qualifications does a volunteer
have? Volunteers come from all walks of
life and a wide range of age groups. They receive specialized
training by CAB to provide the best possible service for the
clients.
Q: Does CAB follow government policy?
No. Although funded through the council
we are an independent organisation.
Q: Can CAB lend me money? No, however we can give advice on money management and negotiate with creditors on your behalf free of charge. CAB are licensed by the Office of Fair Trading (O.F.T) to provide a debt counselling service.
Q: Can CAB help me with my faulty waterworks?
CAB can advise on rights but cannot normally recommend private
tradesmen. We do have trade association handbooks from which clients can choose the required service provider.
Q: When my girlfriend dumps me can CAB help? CAB can advise on rights and responsibilities at the end of a relationship and if further help is needed can recommend agencies that deal
with marriage and relationship issues.
